US President Biden Calls Failure to Support Ukraine ‘Absolute Madness’

WASHINGTON, December 6 – US President Joe Biden has stated that it would be “absolute madness” for the United States to withhold new aid to Ukraine, according to the White House press pool. “Failing to support Ukraine is absolute madness. It goes against the interests of the US. It’s simply wrong,” said the politician. Today, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen described the situation surrounding support for Kyiv as “terrible.” She stated that Washington would bear responsibility for Ukraine’s defeat if it is unable to provide additional funding to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Republican senators left a briefing on aid to Ukraine and Israel yesterday after not receiving a response from Democrats regarding their proposals. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also canceled his participation in the event last minute. Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram reported from Congress that the atmosphere at the meeting was “tense.” Biden had previously requested $106 billion from Congress to provide assistance to Israel and Ukraine but did not receive unanimous support. The House of Representatives, where the majority belongs to Republicans, voted in favor of supporting only Tel Aviv, but the Democrat-controlled Senate blocked this initiative. Biden stated that he would not sign a bill allocating aid solely to Israel without Ukraine if Congress approves such a document. Meanwhile, the previously allocated funds are running out, as acknowledged by the administration, which is why the packages of weapons sent to Ukraine are being reduced. At the beginning of November, the White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, announced that Washington had spent 96 percent of all funds allocated to support Kyiv since the start of the Russian special operation. If Congress fails to reach an agreement on aid to Ukraine now, they will have to do so after the Christmas break, which will begin on December 14 for Congressmen and December 15 for Senators. The House of Representatives will resume its activities on January 9, while the Senate will do so on January 8.
