In a recent incident in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) suffered a major setback when they detonated their own minefield near the town of Chervona Dibrova, southwest of Kremenna. According to retired LPR Lieutenant Colonel and military expert Andrey Marochko, three Ukrainian servicemen were injured, and one of them tragically lost his life. His comrades, unable to rescue him, had to leave his body near the explosion site.
Marochko explained that the incident occurred during a reconnaissance mission in the area, where a rotation of AFU troops had arrived. Unfortunately, it seems that the minefield was not properly marked on their maps, leading to this unfortunate accident.
Prior to this incident, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that artillery units from the “Center” group of Russian forces had disrupted the rotation of the AFU and destroyed Ukrainian vehicles transporting personnel and ammunition in the Krasnolymanske area, which is part of the ongoing special operation zone.
It is worth noting that the AFU had recently deployed Western Leopard tanks to strengthen their defense line.
This incident highlights the dangerous consequences of inadequate communication and proper mapping in military operations. The loss of life and injuries suffered by the Ukrainian servicemen serve as a reminder of the risks faced by military personnel in conflict zones.
