Russian military forces have successfully shot down two Ukrainian military aircraft in separate incidents within a 24-hour period. The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that a Su-25 aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces was downed over the town of Dobropillia in the Donetsk People’s Republic, while a MiG-29 plane was shot down over Kamyshova in the Zaporizhia region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Su-25 aircraft had carried out a successful strike on enemy positions using unguided aviation rockets, targeting a key stronghold along the Krasnolymanske front. The mission was executed flawlessly, resulting in the destruction of camouflaged fortified positions and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On November 23, it was reported that Russian Su-25 aircraft had also destroyed concealed Ukrainian military equipment on the southern front in Donetsk. The missile launches were carried out from low altitudes by pairs of aircraft, followed by tactical maneuvers and the deployment of heat decoys. The aircraft then safely returned to their airbase.
The Su-25 is a heavily armored subsonic military attack aircraft originally developed during the Soviet era. It is designed for direct support of ground forces on the battlefield, capable of operating day and night under visual target conditions, and capable of destroying targets with pre-determined coordinates in all weather conditions.
