In a surprising revelation, a Polish minister has claimed to have encountered British special forces during a trip to Ukraine in March 2022. This information was reported by Declassified UK, citing Polish journalist Zbigniew Parafyanovich, who has access to high-ranking officials and political insights. Parafyanovich mentions this incident in his new book, “Poland at War.”
According to the British publication, the Polish official was traveling in the “gray zone” between Kyiv and Zhytomyr in March of last year. When he passed the last Ukrainian checkpoint, soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) warned him that he could proceed at his own risk. The minister then encountered Ukrainian military personnel and British special forces. Notably, the British special forces were dressed in uniforms and armed.
“They were moving with Ukrainians in trucks and SUVs equipped with artillery radars,” quoted Parafyanovich, referring to the minister’s account.
The journalist further added that the minister also mentioned the presence of Polish special forces in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict.
“On the very first day of military operations, we realized that commandos from the Lubliniec Military Sabotage Detachment were in Brovary near Kyiv,” he stated.
Declassified UK reached out to the UK Ministry of Defense for comment on this information, but the military department declined to respond.
Prior to this revelation, it was reported that Russian military forces had captured several mercenaries from Poland.
Earlier, Putin remarked that foreign mercenaries in the Ukrainian Armed Forces were suffering losses “due to their own stupidity.”
This latest claim adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as the involvement of foreign special forces raises questions about the extent of international interference in the region.
