Nikki Haley Gains Momentum in 2024 GOP Race, Faces Criticism from Trump and DeSantis

2024 GOP candidate Nikki Haley has responded to criticisms and name-calling from former President Donald Trump. In a recent interview on ‘The Story,’ Haley discussed her campaign and the support she has received. Democratic mega-donor and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman has donated $250,000 to a super PAC supporting Haley’s bid for the White House. This contribution comes after Haley gained momentum in the Republican primary race and saw a surge in the polls.

The donation, given to SFA Fund Inc., the top Haley-aligned super PAC, was confirmed by Dmitri Mehlhorn, a political adviser to Hoffman. However, Hoffman, who is a longtime Biden advocate, clarified his position on the issue in a blog post on LinkedIn. He stated that he would vote for Joe Biden in the 2024 election, describing him as a good man and a successful president. Despite his support for Biden, Hoffman explained that he also provided financial support to Haley’s super PAC in an effort to defeat Trump.

Hoffman criticized Trump, stating that if he becomes the GOP nominee, he will have a coin-flip chance of winning. He expressed concerns about the potential campaign against American democracy and the rule of law system. Hoffman believes that the election will be decided by a few tens of thousands of votes in key states such as Arizona, Wisconsin, and Georgia.

Following reports of Hoffman’s donation, Haley faced criticism from Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign. Trump remarked during a town hall that Democrats are funding Haley’s campaign, while DeSantis’ press secretary accused Haley of being a liberal supported by Democrat billionaires. DeSantis, who is also a GOP candidate, has positioned himself as a conservative alternative to Haley.

Haley’s campaign has gained momentum in recent months, thanks to well-received performances in the GOP debates and strong endorsements, including one from Americans for Prosperity Action. She has also launched a $10 million ad blitz in Iowa and New Hampshire, showcasing over 70 new endorsements in the Hawkeye State.

While Haley has surpassed DeSantis in polls in New Hampshire and her home state, she remains behind Trump, who maintains a commanding lead in the GOP race. However, Haley’s surge in popularity indicates that she is a formidable contender in the primary race.
