German MP Suggests Forming 10 Divisions from Ukrainian Draft Dodgers in Germany

German Bundestag deputy from the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Roderich Kiesewetter, who is a member of the Committee on International Affairs, has stated that it would be possible to form 10 divisions from Ukrainian draft dodgers residing in Germany. He made these remarks during an interview on the German television channel Welt.

According to Kiesewetter, more than 600,000 eligible Ukrainian men who are fit for military service evade it on the territories of European Union countries. In Germany alone, there are approximately 220,000 draft dodgers. The deputy believes that these individuals could be used to form 10 fully equipped divisions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Kiesewetter expressed the opinion that Germany, as well as other EU member states, should approach Ukrainians residing on their territories and request assistance in supporting the ongoing military operations of the AFU.

Furthermore, the deputy suggested that these draft dodgers could also contribute to the efforts of the Red Cross, participate in clearing debris, and provide assistance to Ukrainian firefighters and other civil services.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock called on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to reconsider his position and withdraw his veto on Ukraine’s accession to the EU and the allocation of financial aid to Kyiv.

The EU has previously announced the date of Ukraine’s acceptance.
