Ukraine has recently announced its plans to develop a new modification of the Neptune missile, signaling its determination to bolster its defense capabilities. Ivan Havryliuk, the Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine, revealed that work is currently underway to create what is being referred to as the “long Neptune.” This modification aims to enhance the Neptune missile complex, specifically in terms of its ability to target and destroy ground-based threats. The adapted missile, utilizing the anti-ship missile R-360, is expected to have a range of up to 400 kilometers.
This development comes in the midst of escalating tensions with Russia, as the two nations continue to be at odds over various issues. Just last month, Russian forces successfully intercepted a Ukrainian missile off the coast of Crimea.
