Hamas Claims Hitting Israeli Tanks and Armored Vehicles in Gaza

Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, has announced that they have successfully targeted Israeli tanks and armored vehicles in the eastern part of the Gaza Strip. According to the group, Hamas militants were able to strike five tanks and an equal number of armored vehicles belonging to Israel using the “Yasin 105” projectiles.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had stated that on the night of December 4, they had attacked 200 military targets affiliated with the Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

On October 27, Israel declared an “expansion” of its ground operation in Gaza. The exact start of this operation is unknown, but prior to its commencement, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had evacuated their homes and sought refuge in shelters and the southern part of the enclave. On November 5, as part of the ground operation, IDF forces surrounded the city of Gaza, cutting off its supply lines. In the center of Gaza, clashes continue to take place.

On November 22, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire and the release of some hostages. On November 24, the ceasefire agreement officially came into effect. During the week of the ceasefire, Hamas released 110 captured hostages.

On December 1, the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip was canceled, which had been implemented as part of the truce deal between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas. The parties suspended hostilities for seven days, during which Hamas released 110 hostages.

Earlier, The Times of Israel reported that the IDF had lost 398 soldiers since the escalation of the conflict.
