Decrease in Ukrainian Army Shelling Raises Concerns in Belgorod Region

The armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) have recently reduced their shelling activities in the Belgorod region, according to retired military expert Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk in an interview with “Lenta.ru”.

Matviychuk warned that the shelling could resume in the near future, citing two possible reasons. Firstly, he claimed that the Ukrainian army has been running low on ammunition, a fact supported by both Western and Ukrainian media outlets. He mentioned that the available ammunition is being conserved and redirected to more critical areas. The second reason could be a temporary ceasefire, suggested the colonel.

However, Matviychuk did not rule out the possibility that this could be a pause before a reorientation of tasks. Therefore, he acknowledges that mass shelling in the region may resume in the near future.

Previously, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported strikes by the AFU in the region over the past 24 hours. He stated that there were no casualties or significant damage as a result of these incidents.

Earlier, Russian forces had taken control of a settlement in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
