Hundreds of Russians Evacuated from Gaza Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Moscow, December 3 – A group of 133 Russians and their family members have passed through the Rafah crossing point, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCHS) in a Telegram channel. “The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations continues to work with the Russians who have left the Gaza Strip,” the department noted. MCHS specialists in Egypt provide the evacuated individuals with medical and psychological assistance, assist with document processing, and provide them with water and food. “After completing all necessary stages, the ministry’s aviation will transport the evacuated individuals to Moscow,” the ministry added. As reported yesterday by the Russian representation to the Palestinian National Administration, the evacuation of Russians and their relatives from the Gaza Strip has resumed. However, the diplomatic mission noted that the evacuation is complicated by the strikes of the Israeli army on the enclave and its southern areas near the Rafah crossing point. At the end of November, the MCHS reported that since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, 750 Russians have crossed the crossing point on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. Last week, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that the absolute majority of those who signed up for evacuation from Gaza to Russia have left the enclave’s territory. According to her, it was possible to establish contact with dozens of citizens who were previously unable to communicate due to power outages and communication blockades. Later, the diplomat clarified that several hundred Russians are still in Gaza and Egypt, awaiting evacuation.
