Suspected Terrorist Arrested in Moscow for Planning an Explosion

Moscow – In a recent development, a suspect has been arrested in Moscow for allegedly planning a terrorist act on the territory of the Moscow region, according to Yulia Ivanova, the assistant to the head of the Investigative Committee in the capital. The suspect, a man born in 1983, had reportedly agreed to carry out the act in exchange for money after receiving instructions from an unidentified accomplice. The plan involved detonating a tanker containing flammable materials.

The investigation revealed that the suspect initially retrieved explosives from a hiding place in one of Moscow’s forests and then went to acquire a detonator in the southwest of the city. However, before he could proceed with his plan, the man was apprehended by authorities. In a video released by the Investigative Committee, the suspect claimed that a member of the security services had repeatedly promised to help him escape to Ukraine after each assignment, but this promise was never fulfilled.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect for preparing for a terrorist act (Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and attempting to illegally manufacture explosives (Article 223 of the Criminal Code). The arrest serves as a significant step in preventing potential harm to the public and maintaining the safety and security of Moscow and its surrounding region.
