Hamas Offers Prisoner Exchange with Israel

Moscow, November 30 – The Hamas movement is ready to exchange all Israeli prisoners for all remaining Palestinian prisoners in the territory of the Jewish state, according to AFP, citing the head of Hamas’ foreign relations department in the Gaza Strip, Bassem Naim. “We are ready to release all (Israeli) soldiers in exchange for all our prisoners,” he said at a press conference in South Africa. Israel and Hamas, with the mediation of Qatar, have agreed to a ceasefire for the exchange of hostages and prisoners. The four-day ceasefire began on the morning of November 24, and the parties have extended it for two more days. Thus, the ceasefire is in effect until the morning of November 30. The media reported that Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Israel are discussing the possibility of an extension. In five days, Israel has succeeded in securing the release of 61 of its citizens and 25 foreigners. According to various reports, Hamas may be holding approximately 150 Israelis captive. The movement itself has stated that there are about 200-250 prisoners in the Gaza Strip.
