Ukrainian Forces Utilize Maxim Machine Guns Against Russian Drones in Battle

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have been observed using Maxim machine guns on the battlefield, according to American magazine Business Insider.

Journalists noticed photographs on social media that captured the installation of “Maxims” on pickup trucks. The publication noted that these machine guns were developed even before the First World War in the early 20th century.

Correspondents speculated that Ukrainian fighters are employing this tactic to counter the unmanned aerial vehicles of the Russian Armed Forces.

Previously, another American publication, the Wall Street Journal, reported that the situation on the frontlines could worsen for the UAF this winter, causing concern among European officials.

According to the magazine, the UAF has suffered significant losses of personnel and ammunition during the defense of Artemivsk (Bakhmut) and counteroffensives, leading to shortages of manpower and ammunition. Among other factors that could undermine the position of Ukrainian forces, an inefficient conscription system was highlighted.

Earlier, the effectiveness of Russian fighters against Ukrainian naval drones was evaluated in the West.
