Search Underway for Missing Crew Members from Bangladeshi Vessel along Mississippi River

A search operation is currently underway along the Mississippi River for four crew members who have been missing from a Bangladeshi bulk carrier vessel for over 15 hours, as reported by Fox 8 New Orleans. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is leading the search near Belle Chasse in Louisiana. The missing crew members, all men of Bangladeshi nationality, have not arrived at the vessel for a standard safety drill, according to the USCG.

The USCG, utilizing a helicopter and a small boat, is actively involved in the search efforts. Fox 8 New Orleans captured video footage of the search helicopter in operation earlier today. The missing crew members are from the Meghna Adventure, a bulk carrier flagged in Bangladesh.

The USCG was alerted to the situation on Monday at approximately 11 p.m. when it was reported that four individuals were in the water. The USCG has not yet released the names of the missing crew members. The men, aged 25, 29, 30, and 47, are all described as having dark hair and brown skin.

Belle Chasse, located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, is the area where the search is focused. Bangladesh, a country in South Asia, is the origin of the missing crew members. The search is concentrated in the vicinity of Belle Chasse, as shown on Google Maps.

The search operation continues, and the USCG remains committed to locating the missing crew members. Any information or tips related to this incident can be sent to [email protected]. Stay updated on the latest developments by following Michael Dorgan on Twitter @M_Dorgan.
