Authorities Seize Dangerous and Unapproved Vaginal Tightening Gel Shipment at Minneapolis Airport

Atlanta-based senior correspondent Jonathan Serrie reports that a significant shipment of hundreds of syringes containing a “dangerous” and unapproved vaginal tightening gel was recently confiscated at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released a statement stating that on November 20, agents inspected a shipment from Hong Kong labeled as “Vaginal Tightening Gel” that was destined for a residence in Woodbury. Upon inspection, authorities discovered commercial quantities of the gel inside injectables, requiring the use of “chemical resistant gloves” for handling. The cosmetic gel was packaged in pink packaging, ready for resale. Officials estimate that had the syringes been sold, their total domestic value would have exceeded $19,000.

CBP has deemed the gel to be in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, Director of the Field Operations-Chicago Field Office, stated, “This dangerous shipment is another example of someone using unregulated gels to prey on unknowing consumers with false promises. Not knowing what you are inserting in your body can be deadly, and consumers believe they are getting a discount, when in fact they are purchasing an inferior product with unapproved ingredients.”

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Minneapolis airport have not yet provided comment on the matter.
