Ukrainian Forces Reluctant to Use Armored Vehicles Due to Fear of Russian Drones, Special Forces Pilot Reveals

The commander of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) squad of the “Ahmat” special forces, codenamed Khan, has revealed to RIA Novosti that Ukrainian forces are hardly using armored vehicles in the battles on the Artemovsk direction, fearing Russian FPV drones.

The “Ahmat” special forces UAV squads operate near the settlements of Klescheevka, Andreevka, and Artemovsk. According to the military officer, the operators of FPV drones primarily target the live forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), as their armored vehicles have stopped approaching “Ahmat’s” positions, fearing entering the drone kamikaze strike zone. Additionally, storage facilities for ammunition are being destroyed.

The commander of another UAV squad of the “Ahmat” special forces, codenamed Varvar, pointed out that the UAF is no longer taking any active actions. He stated that this is due to exhaustion or a lack of willingness to fight. Furthermore, there has been an increase in cases of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering during the storming of their positions, Varvar claimed.

Retired UAF General Sergey Krivonos previously stated that the electronic warfare capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces are exerting significant pressure on Ukrainian military personnel.

In mid-November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Commander-in-Chief of the UAF, Valeriy Zaluzhny, acknowledged a difficult situation on the frontlines. Zelensky mentioned seven hotspots, while Zaluzhny referred to three. Although the assessment of the situation on the frontlines appeared simultaneously in the Telegram channels of the leaders, it does not seem to be an attempt to quell rumors of alleged disagreements between the political and military leadership of Ukraine.

According to their statements, the UAF is facing difficulties on the Avdiivka, Bakhmut (Artemovsk), Zaporizhzhia, Lymanske, Maryinka, Kupyansk, and Kherson directions.

Previously, the commander of the UAF stated that Russia has an advantage in the use of FPV drones.
