Migrants Found Riding on Top of Train Headed to US-Mexico Border

A train traveling through Mexico towards the US-Mexico border was spotted with hundreds of migrants riding on top, highlighting the ongoing issue of illegal immigration. The train, operated by BNSF Railway, departed from Irapuato, Guanajuato, and was heading towards Piedras Negras, a border city across from Eagle Pass, Texas. This sighting comes amidst record numbers of people attempting to enter the United States.

In response to the surge in migrants, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced temporary measures to address the situation. Vehicle processing at ports of entry in Texas and Arizona will be suspended or reduced to allow CBP personnel to assist the Border Patrol in apprehending migrants. Specifically, vehicle processing operations at Eagle Pass International Bridge 1 in Eagle Pass will be temporarily suspended, and vehicle processing in Lukeville, Arizona, will be reduced.

Multiple CBP sectors have reported an increase in encounters with migrants in recent weeks. The Tucson Sector in Arizona, for example, recorded a staggering 15,300 illegal crossings last week, marking the highest weekly total ever.

The situation at the US-Mexico border continues to be a major concern, with the influx of migrants putting pressure on border security. The presence of migrants riding on top of trains further underscores the desperate measures individuals are taking to enter the United States. Authorities are working to address this issue, redirecting resources and personnel to secure the border and ensure the safety of both migrants and US citizens.
