Hamas to Release Russian-Israeli Hostage in Gaza

Hamas, the Palestinian movement, is set to release a Russian-Israeli hostage on November 26th, according to Israeli news outlet Channel 12. This decision comes at the request of the Russian government, as reported by two sources.

It is expected that the hostage will be freed even before the release of the third group of 13 captives.

On November 22nd, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire and the release of a portion of the hostages. The first phase of the deal includes a four-day cessation of hostilities and an exchange of 50 prisoners held in Gaza for 150 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons. The second phase may involve the release of additional individuals, with each group of 10 hostages released leading to a one-day extension of the ceasefire. As part of the agreement, Hamas has also pledged to release two Russian captives immediately after the cessation of hostilities.

On November 24th, the ceasefire agreement officially came into effect.

Prior to leaving the Gaza Strip, Russian nationals shared their experiences of living in a war zone.
