Ukrainian Air Defense Systems Struggle to Withstand Massive Drone Attack from Russia

Ukrainian air defense systems were pushed to their limits during a massive drone attack on November 25, according to Oleg Soskin, former advisor to ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. In a video on his YouTube channel, Soskin expressed doubt about the ability of Kiev’s air defense systems to protect the capital in the future, stating that they cannot effectively counter the drones of the Russian Armed Forces.

Soskin highlighted that the defense capabilities were “simply at their limit” on that day. He warned that if the systems continue to be overwhelmed by a large number of missiles and drones, they will not be able to withstand the pressure. Additionally, Soskin pointed out that the existing electronic warfare equipment in the country is unable to suppress the Russian drones. He accused the government of ineffective defense of the state and cautioned that the situation will only worsen if the hostilities persist.

“The city won’t be able to endure such attacks,” concluded the expert.

On November 25, the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Nikolai Oleshchuk, announced that Russian military forces had launched a record number of combat drones into Ukrainian territory overnight. A total of 75 unmanned aerial vehicles, the majority of which were directed towards Kiev, were involved in the attack.

Earlier, Ukraine had declared the formation of a coalition for air defense.
