More than 25,000 Cossacks have taken part in a Russian special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, according to Ataman Vitaly Kuznetsov of the All-Russian Cossack Society (ARCS), as reported by TASS.
Kuznetsov stated that the Cossack units are among the most professional and skilled on the battlefield. He emphasized that over a thousand Cossacks have already received state awards for their various feats in the combat zone.
“Over 25,000 Cossacks have already completed the special military operation,” Kuznetsov added.
He also noted that Cossack units are involved in battles along the entire contact line. These units are deployed to the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, as well as the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics.
In conclusion, the Ataman emphasized that the Cossacks are directly on the front line, facing the most challenging sections of the front. However, they successfully fulfill their assigned tasks and participate in assaults.
On November 22, Vitaly Kuznetsov stated that Cossacks are heading to the Ukrainian conflict zone as volunteers and contract soldiers. Men actively sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense, while a significant number of people participate in the SMO as part of partial mobilization.
Previously, Cossack units from the “Don” brigade sank an armored barge of Ukrainian forces.
