Israeli Military Vows to Continue Fighting in Gaza After Ceasefire

Israel’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, has declared that Israeli forces will continue fighting in the Gaza Strip immediately after the ceasefire ends. According to RIA Novosti, Kochavi stated, “We do not intend, do not want, and are not ready to stop these efforts until we bring back all the hostages… After the pause, we will immediately return to strikes and maneuvers in Gaza.”

This announcement comes as Hamas, the Palestinian radical movement’s military wing, has started the handover of a second group of Israeli hostages from the Gaza Strip to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The day before, Hamas had handed over the first group of Israeli hostages to the Red Cross.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are determined to destroy Hamas and secure the release of Israeli captives in the shortest possible time. Lieutenant General Kochavi emphasized their commitment to these goals.

Rafael Rafowitz, a spokesperson for the IDF, stated that Israel is open to the possibility of extending the ceasefire with Hamas if more hostages are released.

This development follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise to destroy Hamas.

In the context of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, this article sheds light on the Israeli military’s determination to continue fighting and its efforts to bring back all Israeli hostages held by Hamas. It highlights the ongoing negotiations between Hamas and the ICRC for the release of these hostages. The article also mentions the possibility of extending the ceasefire if more hostages are freed.
