The Israeli Defense Forces successfully intercepted a surface-to-air missile launched from Lebanon towards an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), according to reports from TASS.
It is noted that the Israeli military was unable to hit the UAV, allowing it to continue its mission. However, Israel subsequently deployed aircraft and conducted strikes on Hezbollah’s movement infrastructure.
Earlier, it was reported that a deputy commander of Hamas’ military wing was eliminated in Lebanon. The man was in a car that was attacked in the city of Tyre. The spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Army confirmed the attack, stating that the man was behind the attacks on Israel originating from Lebanon.
The situation in the Middle East has escalated following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, when Hamas announced the beginning of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the country to be in a state of war.
The objective of Israel’s retaliatory operation, named “Iron Swords,” is to repel the attack, free over 200 hostages, including foreigners, and destroy Hamas. In pursuit of this goal, Israel has been carrying out massive rocket bombardments on the Gaza Strip since the first day of the operation. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza only resumed through the Rafah border crossing after October 20, with their volume being deemed insufficient.
Earlier, Netanyahu reported progress in negotiations with Hamas regarding the hostages.
