The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the formation of a working group dedicated to the construction of military fortifications. According to a statement from the Ukrainian defense department, this interagency working group will address the issues related to the construction of engineering and fortification structures and respond to them promptly.
The group will be co-chaired by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, and the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mikhail Fedorov.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has stated that the working group will operate continuously, functioning similarly to an operational headquarters. Its main objective will be to coordinate efforts between the Ministry of Defense and local authorities in the construction of military engineering and fortification structures. Furthermore, the ministry has announced plans to define the responsibilities for the construction of such structures between the army and the State Agency for Infrastructure Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine.
This development comes after a recommendation from a Ukrainian Armed Forces general, Krivonos, who suggested learning from Russia’s expertise in fortification construction in the Eastern region.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense showcased its efforts in combating fortified positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
