Russia to Deliver More Su-57 Stealth Fighters to Air and Space Forces

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) will hand over another batch of fifth-generation Su-57 stealth fighters to the Russian Air and Space Forces by the end of 2023, according to a statement from the Rostec press service’s Telegram channel.

The Su-57 is a Russian fifth-generation fighter designed by Sukhoi Design Bureau to replace the Su-27. It has been in serial production since 2018 and is known for its low visibility during flight and enhanced combat characteristics.

On November 21, it was reported that UAC had patented a two-seat version of the Su-57.

Similar to its predecessor, the new aircraft is intended for detecting and engaging air, surface, and ground targets using guided and unguided weaponry. Experts note that the two-seat version can be used as a command center for coordinating actions with mixed groups of aircraft, including heavy unmanned aerial vehicles.

The new two-seat cockpit is equipped with control elements to transfer control priority from one pilot to another. It will have at least two multifunction panoramic displays for aircraft and weapon control.

On November 14, Rostec announced the enhancement of the Su-57’s combat capabilities with the introduction of the second-stage engine (Product 30).

There has been increased international interest in the Su-57 fighter in recent times.
