Lithuania Establishes National Council for Defense Coordination

President Gitanas Nauseda of Lithuania has signed a decree to establish a National Council for Defense Coordination, according to his official website.

The State Defense Council of Lithuania approved a defense plan in November, which includes the creation of a National Coordination Council for defense.

Nauseda has invited representatives from various state and municipal institutions, economic entities, non-governmental organizations, and civil society to participate in this council.

“The principle of universal defense, enshrined in the State Defense Plan, stipulates that the interaction, preparation, and participation of military and civilian state institutions, private sector, and society together are a necessary condition for unconditional defense. We aim to involve and leverage the expertise of different stakeholders in the state and society to not only include and train, but also ensure the resilience and readiness for the defense of the state,” said Nauseda.

It was also mentioned that the established council will serve as an advisory and expert group, which will discuss the implementation of the goals set in the state defense plan, as well as the preparation of planned events and participants.

Previously, it was reported that Germany will deploy brigades of the German Armed Forces in Lithuania.

Earlier, the reason for the dismissal of all deputy ministers of defense in Ukraine was revealed.
