In a recent statement, the official spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces, Daniel Hageri, asserted that while military cooperation exists between Israel and the United States, all decisions regarding operations in the Gaza sector are exclusively made by the Jewish state. This statement was reported by TASS.
Hageri emphasized that Israel maintains regular communication with the US and both countries have a plan and understanding of the situation in the Middle East.
“We collaborate on all these matters, but ultimately, this is a war led by the State of Israel. We receive instructions from the Israeli government, and the US government understands this,” stated Hageri.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden remarked that the implementation of agreements between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, concerning the release of hostages and a temporary ceasefire, is only the beginning of the process, but things are progressing well.
He underscored the need for a resolute pursuit of a two-state solution to address the existing problem, allowing Israelis and Palestinians to “live side by side with an equal measure of freedom and dignity for both peoples.”
Previously, Hamas had released the first group of hostages.
