Buryat Soldier Sentenced to Prison for Desertion, Buys Fake Death Certificate

A Buryat soldier, Zorigto Arabzhaev, who was mobilized from Buryatia, purchased a fake death certificate to avoid returning to the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. The Ulan-Ude Garrison Military Court sentenced him to five years of strict regime colony for desertion. This information was reported on the court’s website.

According to court documents, the man was mobilized in November 2022. After his leave ended in March of this year, he did not report back to his military unit and spent time at his relatives’ place of residence, where he was apprehended by military police in May. Arabzhaev stated that his wife had repeatedly threatened suicide out of concern for his life, which is why he decided not to return to his military unit.

“In order to prevent the command from searching for him, he acquired a fake death certificate from an unidentified person,” the statement said.

Earlier, it was revealed that a military court in Novosibirsk sentenced 25-year-old mobilized soldier Vladimir Konstantinov for desertion on the eve of his deployment to the special operation zone.

Prior to this, in Ulyanovsk, two mobilized soldiers were sentenced to 6 and 5.5 years in prison for assaulting officers.

Earlier, the Odintsovo Garrison Military Court sentenced a mobilized soldier to 5.5 years of strict regime colony for attacking an officer.
