Ukraine Simplifies Import of Military Equipment from EU and NATO

The State Customs Service of Ukraine has announced the simplification of the import of military equipment from countries within the European Union (EU) and NATO. This move is seen as an important step towards aligning Ukraine’s customs legislation with the standards of the EU and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

According to the State Customs Service, this new development will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to efficiently transport Western military equipment and other goods across the country’s customs border.

This announcement comes after Politico reported, citing a high-ranking French diplomat, that EU countries may start procuring ammunition for Ukraine from third-party countries if they fail to meet their commitment of supplying 1 million rounds of ammunition to Kyiv by March.

Furthermore, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that Germany intends to provide Ukraine with four IRIS T-SLM air defense systems, as well as artillery ammunition.

Earlier, NATO discussed the need to open European borders for the free movement of troops within the bloc. The alliance’s leadership aims to prepare for the potential deployment of forces to the “Eastern flank,” referring to the borders of Russia and Belarus. As highlighted by the alliance, modern warfare is reliant on logistics, but NATO forces are hindered by bureaucratic rules. For more details, refer to the article by “Gazeta.Ru.”
