Ukrainian Artillery Opens Fire on Azov Militants in LNR

Ukrainian artillery has reportedly targeted the positions of “Azov”, a banned terrorist organization in Russia, in the vicinity of the village of Chervonaya Dibrova in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR). Retired LNR Lieutenant Colonel and military expert, Andrey Marochko, revealed this information to RIA Novosti.

According to Marochko, the militants’ positions were bombarded for half an hour from the northwest direction. While the exact cause of the incident remains unknown, Marochko believes it is unlikely to be an error by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) artillery spotters or a loss of control, as there is wired communication with the command and Ukrainian troops have been stationed in these positions for a long time.

Just a few days prior, Russian forces in the “Center” group repelled an attack by Azov’s assault troops on the Krasnolimansk direction. According to the Ministry of Defense, Russian aviation also targeted soldiers and equipment from the 117th territorial defense brigade, the 67th mechanized brigade of the VSU, and the 31st operational brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard north of Yampolovka and Grigorovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR).

The Ukrainian soldiers reportedly suffered up to 30 casualties, in addition to the loss of an armored vehicle and two cars.

Earlier, the United States acknowledged the failure of the VSU’s counteroffensive.
