The Shiite militia group known as the “Hezbollah Brigades” has issued a warning to the United States in response to an airstrike on its position southwest of Baghdad. The group’s statement, posted on its website, emphasizes the ongoing presence of American occupation forces in Iraq and accuses them of targeting the mobilization forces and fighters in the Jurf al-Nasr sector. The group criticizes the US military’s inability to protect its bases from attacks by Islamic resistance, which has further destabilized the enemy and led them to commit crimes against those who defended Iraq and liberated it from the evil of ISIS.
Prior to this, Hezbollah stated that it would adhere to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, which the two sides had agreed upon for a prisoner exchange. Al-Manar TV channel also reported that militants from Hezbollah’s armed wing had targeted 10 positions of the Israeli army along the Lebanon border in the past 24 hours.
The situation in the Middle East has escalated following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7. More than two hundred hostages were taken. On that day, Hamas launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, initiating the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war.
The Lebanese Shiite organization Hezbollah expressed support for Hamas, leading to rocket attacks on Israel and Lebanon from both sides. On October 19, the Israeli army announced that border areas of the country had been shelled from Lebanese territory. According to the Israel Defense Forces, several anti-tank rockets were fired towards the Kibbutz Manara.
Earlier, Israel described the potential involvement of Hezbollah in the war as a “fatal mistake.”
