In a recent development, Russian air defense systems have successfully shot down a Ukrainian fighter jet in the vicinity of Vozdvyzhenka, a city in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported this incident in their Telegram channel.
According to the defense ministry, the downed aircraft was identified as a MiG-29 belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force. This marks a significant blow to Ukraine’s military capabilities.
In addition to the fighter jet, Russian forces have also eliminated 45 Ukrainian drones in various locations, including Marinka in the DPR, Verkhnekamenka and Melovatka in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Pshenichnoye and Mirnoye in the Zaporizhia region, as well as Olshana and Dvurechnoye in the Kharkiv region, Sagi and Zmiivka in the Kherson region.
Prior to these incidents, the Russian army successfully targeted a weapons depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region, further weakening Ukraine’s military infrastructure.
Furthermore, Russian mortar teams have reportedly inflicted casualties on Ukrainian soldiers stationed at a strategic position in the Krasnolimansk direction within the self-proclaimed DPR.
It is worth mentioning that the MiG-35, a state-of-the-art fighter jet developed by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), has also been deployed in these operations, as previously announced by the aircraft manufacturer.
