During the Aerospace Science Week at the Moscow Aviation Institute, Sergei Korotkov, the chief designer of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), revealed that the next generation Russian fighter jet will prioritize cost-effectiveness while maintaining stealth capabilities, high maneuverability, and integration with other weapon systems. According to Korotkov, the main criterion for the new generation complex is striking a balance between operational and tactical capabilities and the life cycle cost.
Korotkov emphasized the importance of avoiding excessive costs, stating that even if the aircraft is technologically superior, an exorbitant price tag would render it inefficient. He also highlighted that major global powers are actively working on developing next-generation aviation systems with similar requirements, aligning with Russia’s goals. Therefore, the creation of a domestic next-generation aviation system has become a priority for the Russian aerospace industry.
