An Oklahoma woman has been charged with murder in connection with her mother’s suicide, after allegedly providing her with a firearm. Jaye Dee Watts, 44, is facing charges of kidnapping and felony murder by caretaker abuse. The incident occurred in September when Watts intentionally gave her 72-year-old mother, Lynda Watts, a gun which led to her taking her own life.
The Oklahoma City police initially arrested Watts after discovering her mother’s body with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at their residence on Blue Quail Drive. Authorities obtained security video footage that captured the suspect and victim fighting outside Lynda’s home. In the video, Watts can be heard saying, “Here’s a gun,” and “Do with it what you f—ing will, b—-.”
Police also reported that Watts told her mother to “take your pill or choke on it and die.” During an interview with the police, Watts expressed her frustration as a 24/7 caregiver. Watts’ own Facebook profile indicates that she recently survived cancer, and in a 2017 post, she described her mother as an “amazing mom.”
The case was presented to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, which issued a warrant for Watts’ arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and Watts will face legal consequences for her alleged involvement in her mother’s suicide.
