Moscow, November 22 – The deal between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas for the release of hostages from the Gaza Strip and the cessation of hostilities consists of several stages and has a time limit, according to a document from the Israeli government. “For each release of a group of 10 hostages, a 24-hour ceasefire will be provided,” the document specifies. Thus, the agreement will be considered effective from the moment the first group of hostages is released and will be limited to a maximum of 10 days of ceasefire. The first stage provides for a four-day truce. It is expected that in the initial phase, Israel will release 150 Palestinian prisoners as soon as Hamas returns 50 hostages to the Jewish state. The second stage involves an exchange according to the same formula, but with the prefix “up to,” so the final number of released hostages may differ from the stated one. Earlier, Hamas announced an agreement with Israel to establish a four-day humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip with a cessation of all military actions. The agreement also provides for the delivery of hundreds of trucks with provisions, medicines, and fuel to all areas of the enclave. Qatar and Egypt acted as mediators.
