Ukrainian Armed Forces Suffer Heavy Losses and Equipment Shortages in Conflict with Russia

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have experienced significant casualties and equipment losses since the beginning of the month, according to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. In a meeting at the Ministry of Defense, Shoigu revealed that over 13,700 individuals have been lost by the UAF, along with approximately 1,800 units of various weapons and military equipment.

These revelations come after Czech President Peter Pavel stated that Ukraine’s counteroffensive did not go as planned and Russia was well-prepared to repel it. Pavel highlighted that Russia has been able to supply its troops with more weapons and ammunition than Western countries have provided to Ukraine. Additionally, the upcoming winter season could further hinder the actions of the UAF and pose new challenges for Kyiv.

On November 21st, it was reported that the UAF is facing technical issues with equipment supplied by Western countries. Specifically, over 60% of armored vehicles have exceeded their operational lifespan, and the majority of artillery installations are unable to accurately fire due to barrel wear.

Earlier, it was revealed that Russian forces successfully thwarted a counterattack by the UAF in the South-Donetsk direction.

This latest update highlights the dire situation faced by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in their ongoing conflict with Russia. The significant loss of personnel and equipment, coupled with technical limitations, has put Ukraine at a disadvantage. As tensions continue to escalate, it remains crucial for international actors to assess the situation and provide necessary support to the Ukrainian government. The implications of this conflict extend beyond the region, warranting attention and action from the global community.
