Russian military forces, with artillery support, have successfully thwarted a counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Priyutne area of the South Donetsk direction. This was confirmed by Oleg Chekhov, the spokesperson for the “Vostok” task force, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Chekhov stated, “The UAF infantry has been destroyed.” He also revealed that an attempt to rotate Ukrainian troops in the Urozhayne area had been intercepted. According to the officer, the UAF suffered losses of two mortar units and several vehicles.
On November 17, Chekhov reported that the “Vostok” task force had destroyed five Ukrainian mortar units in the South Donetsk direction, including a mobile mortar based on an American HUMVEE vehicle.
Furthermore, on November 19, the Telegram channel “Voin DV” announced that the Russian Armed Forces had launched their first strikes with RBK-500 cluster bombs on Ukrainian army positions at the front line.
Prior to this, the Russian Ministry of Defense had reported that Russian forces successfully repelled one attack by the UAF in the South Donetsk direction, with Ukrainian army losses estimated at up to 60 servicemen.
Earlier in the United States, the failure of the UAF’s counteroffensive was acknowledged.
