German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius Visits Ukraine for Talks with President Zelensky

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has arrived in Kyiv for an undisclosed visit, according to the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

According to the publication, the minister has planned negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umorov.

The newspaper specifies that Pistorius arrived in the Ukrainian capital on the morning of November 21st by train.

On November 20th, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, visited Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian leadership and convey Washington’s support.

However, the Pentagon chief warned Volodymyr Zelensky that the US does not have a “magic wand” that could help Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

Earlier, former advisor to Leonid Kuchma, Oleh Soskin, expressed the opinion that Austin visited Kyiv to support the reputation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but did not promise any real assistance.

Previously, the US and Ukraine began negotiations on security guarantees for Kyiv.
