A Florida man was arrested after allegedly throwing a package of Oreo cookies at his wife during an argument over their empty coffee maker. John Sandoval, 70, reportedly became aggressive during the argument and threw the package at his wife’s chest, causing her to fall. He also placed his hands on her throat, although her airways were not restricted. The incident took place while the couple was sitting at a table, and deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene.
According to authorities, the couple had been married for over 40 years and got into a verbal argument over the coffee maker. Sandoval was arrested the following morning, and his wife’s daughter urged her to press charges. Deputies noted that there were no obvious injuries on the woman.
During his interview with detectives, Sandoval admitted to throwing the cookies at his wife but claimed to have no recollection of grabbing her throat. He was charged with felony domestic battery on a person 65 years or older.
