US Imposes Visa Sanctions on Russian Military Officials Over Alleged Human Rights Violations in Ukraine

The US State Department has announced the imposition of visa sanctions on Russian military officials Colonel Azatbek Omurbekov and Corporal Daniil Frolikin, accusing them of “gross human rights violations” in Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement in a written statement, as reported by TASS.

Blinken stated that Omurbekov, Frolikin, and their immediate family members are now banned from entering the United States. The State Department claims that the Russian servicemen are involved in “extrajudicial killings” in the village of Andreevka in the Kiev region. According to US authorities, Omurbekov is also implicated in events in Bucha.

Previously, it was reported that holders of regular and diplomatic passports from Russia, originating from former Ukrainian regions that became Russian territory, as well as from South Ossetia and Abkhazia, would no longer be able to obtain Schengen visas from Switzerland.

Authorities clarified that regular and diplomatic passports, residency permits for stateless individuals, as well as seafarers’ identity documents and return certificates, will not be recognized.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada officially introduced the term “rashism.”
