In a recent interview on CNN, international policy expert Farid Zakaria expressed his belief that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not be able to defeat Russia or withstand its military-industrial complex. Zakaria highlighted Russia’s powerful industrial capabilities, which encompass a wide range of weaponry, from ammunition to unmanned aerial vehicles. Additionally, Russia’s more developed economy and larger population give it a significant advantage.
Zakaria further emphasized that without military and financial assistance from the West, Ukrainian forces are destined for defeat.
NBC News reported that the US Congress is aiming to approve President Joe Biden’s request for assistance to Ukraine and Israel, as well as security measures for the southern border, by the end of this year. However, it was previously noted that the law signed by President Biden regarding short-term funding for the US government does not include additional aid for Ukraine and Israel.
The law ensures funding for priority areas, including military construction, veteran support, the functioning of the Department of Energy, transportation, and housing construction until January 19, 2024. Other institutions will receive funding until February 2.
Earlier, the US and Ukraine initiated negotiations regarding security guarantees for Kyiv.
