Al Jazeera, the Qatari television channel, has reported that Israel is conducting a massive artillery bombardment on an Indonesian hospital in Gaza.
According to the channel, many patients and one healthcare worker have been injured due to the actions of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and it is not possible for them to leave the hospital premises. Allegedly, the IDF is shooting at those who attempt to exit.
Prior to this, there were plans to evacuate staff and patients from the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza.
The situation in the Middle East has escalated after thousands of Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7th, when Hamas announced the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.
The goal of Israel’s retaliatory operation, “Iron Swords,” is to repel attacks, free over 200 hostages, including foreigners, and destroy Hamas. As part of achieving this objective, Israel has been carrying out massive rocket attacks on the Gaza Strip since the first day of the operation. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the enclave. Humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza have only been resumed through the Rafah checkpoint after October 20th, with their volume being deemed insufficient.
On October 27th, Israel announced the “expansion” of its ground operation in Gaza. The exact start date of this operation is unknown, but leading up to it, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had fled their homes and sought shelter in underground bunkers and in the southern part of the enclave. On November 5th, as part of the ground operation, IDF forces surrounded the city of Gaza and cut off its supply lines, with fighting still ongoing in the center of Gaza.
