US Efforts for Hostage Release Deal in Gaza Still Ongoing

The White House National Security Council’s spokesperson, Adrienne Watson, has stated that the deal for the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip has not yet been reached. She shared this information on social media.

“We have not reached an agreement yet, but we continue to work diligently towards finalizing the deal,” Watson writes.

This statement comes in response to reports that a deal for a five-day ceasefire, in exchange for the release of several dozen hostages, will be reached between Israel, Hamas, and with the involvement of the United States.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that the United States, Israel, and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas are close to reaching an agreement for a pause in the fighting.

According to the publication, the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip could begin in the “coming days.” The situation in the Middle East has escalated after Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7, capturing hundreds of hostages and taking them back to the enclave.

A political analyst previously cited one of the reasons for the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
