Russian Evacuees from Gaza Arrive in Moscow Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Moscow, November 20 – A special flight carrying 117 evacuated Russians and their family members from Gaza has landed at Domodedovo Airport, with a total of 525 individuals evacuated from the conflict zone, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) Telegram channel. “An EMERCOM Il-76 aircraft delivered evacuated Russians from the Gaza Strip to Moscow. Another EMERCOM special flight has landed at Domodedovo Airport, carrying 117 citizens who arrived from Cairo, having left the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone,” the statement said. Some of the passengers headed to their relatives, while the rest were taken to temporary accommodation centers in the suburban areas of Klin and Volokolamsk. These centers provide all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay, with psychological support being provided by EMERCOM psychologists. Since the start of the humanitarian mission, a total of 525 individuals have been brought to Russia from Cairo, clarified the ministry. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is linked to territorial interests and has remained a source of tension and clashes in the region for decades. The United Nations, with the active role of the Soviet Union in 1947, decided to create two states – Israel and Palestine, but only the Israeli state was established. A new phase of confrontation began after Hamas forces from the Gaza Strip fired at the Jewish state on the morning of October 7 and infiltrated the border areas in the south, where they opened fire on both military and civilian targets and took hostages. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation “Iron Swords” in the Gaza Strip. Within a few days of the attack, the IDF gained control over all the border towns and began conducting airstrikes on various targets, including civilian ones, within the enclave. Additionally, Tel Aviv announced a complete blockade of Gaza, halting the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel. The number of casualties in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 12,000, with over 30,000 people injured. More than 1,400 people, including 20 Russians, have died in Israel.
