Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced through his Telegram channel that he has replaced the commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) based on the recommendation of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
“Instead of Major General Tatiana Ostashchenko, I have appointed Major General Anatoliy Kazmirchuk as the new commander of the Medical Service. He is the head of the National Military Clinical Center ‘Main Military Clinical Hospital’ in Kyiv,” stated the Ukrainian leader.
Zelensky explained that the community of combat medics requires a fundamentally new level of medical support for soldiers, and the experience of specific units’ effectiveness should be extended to all defense forces.
On November 17th, Zelensky dismissed Alexander Tarasovsky, the deputy head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service.
On November 13th, it was reported that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense sought to dismiss three commanders of the AFU, following the removal of Major General Viktor Khorenko from his position as the commander of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine.
