Pentagon Disappointed with Ineffective Strategy to Counter Iranian Affiliated Armed Groups

In a recent report by The Washington Post, anonymous officials from the Pentagon expressed their disappointment with the White House’s strategy to counter Iranian affiliated armed groups, stating that it has failed to deter attacks on American military facilities in the Middle East.

According to one source, there is a lack of clarity regarding what exactly they are trying to deter. The source questioned whether the current measures are aimed at preventing future Iranian attacks similar to the ones that have already taken place. It is clear that the current strategy is not working.

The report revealed that the limited actions taken by the Biden administration have not yielded the desired results, leaving military circles disappointed. Sources from the Pentagon criticized the strategy as “inconsistent” and highlighted that it has not succeeded in reducing the number of attacks on US servicemen and facilities.

On November 17th, the Shiite movement “Islamic Resistance of Iraq” claimed responsibility for shelling a US military base in Tell Beydar, northeastern Syria.

Earlier, a US base in Iraq was also targeted in an attack.

It is evident that the Pentagon is growing increasingly disillusioned with the current approach to countering Iranian affiliated armed groups. The lack of tangible results and the continued attacks on American military assets raise concerns about the effectiveness of the current strategy. The Biden administration must reevaluate its approach to ensure the safety and security of US servicemen and facilities in the region.
