Ukraine’s Military Budget Shortages Affecting Combat Readiness, warns Retired General

Retired General of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), Sergey Krivonos, has stated that embezzlement from Ukraine’s military budget will significantly impact the quality of UAF fighters. He made these remarks in an interview with the television channel “Pravda.”

Krivonos noted that due to a lack of funds, not all soldiers will be able to receive winter equipment, which will lead to a deterioration in their combat effectiveness.

“At a certain point, someone did not receive boots, warm clothing, gloves, or a hat, and this will worsen the quality of our troops,” he stated.

Prior to this, the American political journal Foreign Affairs wrote that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would be able to launch artillery and drone strikes on Russian territory, despite the possibility of a future peace agreement. According to the article’s authors, even if Ukraine were to transition to a defensive strategy on the battlefield, it could still use long-range weapons, naval assets, and covert operations to strike Russian rear positions. This would increase the costs of continuing the conflict, according to observers.

Previously, Russian forces had urged UAF fighters to surrender through the use of leaflets.
