Vice-Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Ahmed Bahar, has died from injuries sustained in Gaza, according to the Palestinian news agency Maan.
Bahar, who was a member of the leadership of the radical Islamist movement Hamas, was reportedly injured in an undisclosed location and time that proved fatal for him, as stated by journalists. The agency did not provide further details.
In addition to his political activities, Bahar also taught at the Islamic University in the Gaza Strip.
On November 16th, Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Gadi Eisenkot, revealed that the country’s soldiers are close to destroying all military infrastructure in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip. He stated that Israeli troops only have a few remaining tasks to complete.
Prior to this, the IDF declared that the Hamas movement had effectively ceased to exist as an organized military structure in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that the Hamas command center is located beneath the central hospital in the Gaza Strip.
