Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Attacks Military Base in Iraq, American and International Forces Affected

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has targeted a military base in northern Iraq, where American and international military personnel are stationed. This was reported by the television channel Sky News Arabia.

The strike hit Al-Harir Air Base. Official reports on the extent of damage and casualties have not been released yet. No organization has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

Just two days prior, Shiite groups in Iraq had shelled a US base in the western part of the country. It is noted that the strike was in response to Israel’s actions in the Gaza sector. Prior to this, US bases in Iraq and Syria have been subjected to multiple armed attacks.

Earlier, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated that since October 17, US personnel and military bases in the Middle East have been targeted 55 times, resulting in 59 injuries among military personnel.

The US armed forces control territories in eastern and northeastern Syria, in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasakah, and Raqqa, where Syria’s largest oil and gas deposits are located.

Previously, American officials urged Washington to increase strikes on Iran’s positions in Syria.
