Moscow, November 17 – Russian military forces have launched strikes on Ukrainian positions in the South Donetsk region, resulting in the destruction of five mortar crews, according to Oleg Chekhov, the chief spokesperson for the “Vostok” group. “During the counter-battery fight, the enemy lost five mortar crews, including a mobile mortar based on an American-made HUMVEE,” stated Chekhov. He also revealed that Russian forces had thwarted two attempts by Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) units to rotate in the areas of Novomykhailivka and north of Pryutyne. According to Chekhov, in addition to human casualties, the enemy also lost an armored fighting vehicle and a pickup truck. Furthermore, Chekhov clarified that aviation and artillery strikes targeted the concentration areas of the 79th Air Assault, 72nd Mechanized, and 128th Territorial Defense Brigades of the VSU in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka, Konstantynivka, Dobrovelia, Ugledear, Novodonetsk, Urozhainy, Staromayorsk, and Makarivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR). In response, self-propelled artillery system Krab was eliminated near Novoivanivka, and the towed howitzer FH70 was destroyed in the Temirivka area of the Zaporizhia region, the source added. He also reminded that within a day, the enemy lost approximately 70 personnel killed and wounded in the South Donetsk region. Additionally, among the VSU losses were an electronic warfare station and two combat armored vehicles.
