Russian Defense Ministry Destroys Ukrainian Drones Near Smolensk Region

In a recent announcement on their Telegram channel, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed that their air defense forces have successfully destroyed three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Smolensk region.

The publication stated, “Around 8:00 am (Moscow time), an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles on objects within the territory of the Russian Federation was thwarted.”

The governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, had previously reported that Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems in the Zadneprovsk district of Smolensk and the Smolensk district had successfully neutralized UAVs belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Prior to this incident, the Russian Defense Ministry had announced that their air defense systems had shot down 26 Ukrainian drones within a 24-hour period. According to the report, the UAVs were targeted in the areas of Kremennoy in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Novoandriyivka and Lipove in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), as well as Mirnoye, Romanovskoye, and Pavlovka in the Zaporizhia region. Additionally, two HIMARS rockets and a JDAM guided aviation bomb of US origin were intercepted.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense had revealed that they were engaged in serial production of combat drones.
